If I could wear a dress every day, I would. In reality, I pretty much do. They’re just too easy to slip on and instantly look put-together.
The first time I saw this Free People dress at Nordstrom it was love at first sight. I didn’t purchase it right away, but that fact that I kept thinking about it was a sign. There’s just too much to love. As you know, I’m obsessed with white. I also adore the intricate gold details that sets it apart from the other white dresses I already own. Last but not least, it has the ultimate detail that easily made it a done deal: it’s twirl worthy.

My sister and I absolutely love our new place. Together, we’ve combined our belongings to make ourselves feel right at home. The only area of the house that still needs some improvement is the backyard. With plenty of room to work with, we have both a deck and small yard that need a littlelot of TLC. My goal for the rest of the summer is to make a cozy patio area where we can relax and entertain. One thing I know for sure, a fire pit will be included!
Ever since I moved into my new place, I have been on the search for the perfect piece to display my perfumes and accessories. It wasn’t until I found this colorful floral tray from Biscuit Home that I fell in love! It’s just the pop of color I needed for my rather neutral blue & white room!
That’s my new motto! Yesterday I went in for a routine cut and decided to make a spontaneous decision to go short. Really short (at least for me!). I’m still trying to get used to the change, but sometimes change is good!
Long time no see! First off, I’d like to apologize for my absence over here on the blog. I feel incredibly guilty any day I don’t get a post up. So you can only imagine how I felt about a whole week of being MIA. Major anxiety. This morning I was doing some thinking and decided I should probably explain- with a job that requires travel, as well as balancing a long-distance relationship, I can’t always find the time to do everything I want. Finding the perfect balance between work, play, and the blog is a constant battle that I’m still trying to figure out. I know one day, when things settle down, I will find the right recipe to make it all work. But for now, I am doing my best!
That all being said, you definitely have to put things in perspective and really step back and focus on what’s important. When a company like the Akola Project reaches out and tells you about their amazing story, you are quickly brought back to reality. If you haven’t heard of the Akola Project, they are a global accessory brand that is made by and fully benefits marginalized woman. Their story started in Uganda and has now made its way back to our very own Dallas, TX. Brittany, the founder of the Akola Project (also an SMU alum!), is starting local group here in Dallas that will train and employ sexually trafficked women to help with the finishing touches on their products made in Uganda.
I’ll be honest, I had seen their necklaces before and thought they were pretty. Now that I know the meaning behind them, they are even more beautiful! Make sure you check out the Akola Project and their amazing necklaces! And if you’re feeling generous, donate to their cause here!
J.Crew has been one of my go-to shops when it comes to great swimwear for as long as I can remember. I always know I can easily find just what I’m looking for, whether it’s a cute new pattern or a classic shape. Now that summer is in high gear, I’ve realized I could use a few updates. Good thing J.Crew is now offering 30% all swimwear with the code HISUMMER. Perfect timing for 4th of July!
Need more 4th of July inspiration, don’t miss this post!

I know that of all people, I am the first to choose a little black dress over anything else. But when it’s summer and the sun is out, I want color. Lots of color. You may remember from this post that I am a huge fan of embroidery. I love the intricate detail it can add to the most simple of pieces. Plus, it can easily double to add that pop of color I’m craving these days.
